Tune In to the Midnight Heart Season 2 Sets 2027 Premiere and Adds New Cast

What was announced

Distributor NBC Universal has confirmed that Tune In to the Midnight Heart, the anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi's manga, will return for a second season in 2027. As reported by Anime News Network, the update pairs the sequel's first release window with a set of new cast and staff details and a freshly revealed key visual. A second season was first confirmed in late March, immediately after the first season's finale aired, but no premiere timing had been attached to it until now.

New cast joins the Yamabuki family

The announcement introduces two additions to the voice cast, both playing relatives of protagonist Arisu Yamabuki. Ami Koshimizu voices Riina Yamabuki, described as Arisu's older sister and the eldest daughter of the Yamabuki household, a character said to carry a complex about her short stature. Kaede Hondo plays Mito Yamabuki, Arisu's younger sister, whose cheerful and relaxed personality is framed as a contrast to her hot-tempered older sister and eccentric older brother. Neither sister has appeared in the series so far, and character designs for both were shown alongside the new visual.

Returning staff and studio

Most of the first season's core team is coming back. Masayuki Takahashi returns as director at studio Gekko, with Yukie Sugawara again overseeing and writing the series scripts. Tomoyuki Shitaya reprises character design and Kuniyuki Takahashi returns to compose the music, according to the staff list shared with the announcement. Akira Nagasaki, who handled color coordination on the first season, steps up as color designer.
