The Elusive Samurai Season 2 Is Now Streaming on Crunchyroll and Prime Video
CloverWorks' historical action series has returned, with Prime Video carrying the fastest global stream ahead of a wider platform rollout on July 21.

Season 2 is now streaming
The second season of The Elusive Samurai Season 2 has begun, and it is already available to watch. According to the anime's official account, the new season is streaming first on Prime Video, with other platforms set to begin carrying the episodes on July 21. Reporting from Anime News Network adds that the season launched on July 17, simulcasting globally on Crunchyroll and Prime Video alongside its Japanese broadcast on Fuji TV's noitaminA block.
The story so far
The series follows Hojo Tokiyuki, the young heir who survives the fall of his clan by turning his talent for running away into a weapon. Season 1, which aired across 2024, established Tokiyuki's flight and the allies who gather around him as he is hunted through a country torn apart by betrayal. Multiple outlets report that Season 2 pushes his story past mere survival and toward open resistance, adapting a manga that has now reached its ending. Where the first season leaned on Tokiyuki's evasion, the reporting frames the new run as the point where he begins turning the tables on the forces that drove him out.
Yusei Matsui, the creator of Assassination Classroom, wrote and illustrated the original manga. According to reports, Matsui concluded the series in February 2026 after 25 collected volumes, with a final volume due in August. That means the adaptation is drawing from a completed story with a definitive endpoint rather than an ongoing serialization.
The returning team
The production carries over its core creative team. Anime News Network reports that Yuta Yamazaki returns to direct at studio CloverWorks, with Yasushi Nishiya back on character designs and Yoriko Tomita again overseeing series composition. The same reporting confirms the season's opening theme, "Onigoto," performed by Kento Nakajima, whose team shared an advance release of the track ahead of the premiere.
