MAPPA Reveals the Staff and Teaser for Fall in Love, You False Angels, Due in 2027
Coco Uzuki's award-winning shojo manga gets a MAPPA anime in 2027, with the staff unveiled at the studio's 15th anniversary event.
What was announced
MAPPA used its 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal on June 19, 2026, to share a teaser trailer and the core staff for the Fall in Love, You False Angels television anime, which is set to premiere in 2027.
The adaptation itself was first announced on June 11, 2026. What the anniversary event added was the first teaser visual and the production team. Fall in Love, You False Angels is not yet in our catalog, so there is no show page to link.
The staff
According to Anime News Network, Yasutomo Okamoto is directing the anime at MAPPA, with Yohei Yamazaki supervising the series scripts and Mariko Oka handling character design. No cast members were revealed alongside the teaser.
About the manga
Fall in Love, You False Angels is a romantic comedy by Coco Uzuki, serialized in Kodansha's shojo magazine Dessert since April 2023 and collected into six volumes as of early 2026. The series won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2025 and has been a consistent presence on best-of lists for female readers in Japan.
The story follows Otogi Katsura, a high school girl admired by everyone as a flawless beauty, who works hard to hide a brash, outspoken true self behind that perfect image. Her carefully maintained facade slips when she snaps at a group of boys harassing her, and the equally polished Toki Ninomae turns out to enjoy seeing the real her.
Why it matters
The project is a notable shojo entry for MAPPA, a studio better known for action titles, though it has handled shojo-rooted works before, including Banana Fish. With a 2027 window and a teaser now public, the adaptation moves from announcement to active production.
