The second season continues the story that made the first one a quiet hit: badminton hopeful Taiki and basketball standout Chinatsu chase their separate athletic dreams while sharing a roof and slowly closing the distance between them. That living arrangement, set in motion when Chinatsu's family moves abroad and she stays with Taiki's household, remains the emotional engine of the series. Reporting from the AnimeJapan reveal, where a new key visual and teaser trailer were shown on March 28, points to a change behind the scenes, with Electric Circus taking over animation from Telecom Animation Film and Daisuke Sako stepping in as director. Character designer Miho Tanino and series composer Yuko Kakihara are reported to be returning, a signal that the sequel means to preserve the soft, naturalistic look that defined the first run. On the cast side, Yoshino Aoyama is reported to be joining as Yumeka Kido. Netflix has not published an exact international streaming date beyond the October window.

Blue Box adapts Kouji Miura's manga and first aired in October 2024, running 25 episodes. The source manga has sold more than 7 million copies, and its appeal has always leaned less on sports spectacle than on the ache of a one-sided crush and the small, daily moments of two teenagers living under the same roof. The first season built a devoted following for exactly that restraint, and its finale left plenty of emotional thread for a sequel to pick up.
