Witch Hat Atelier and Ascendance of a Bookworm Debut Their Crossover Collaboration PV at Anime Expo 2026
The two fantasy anime released a joint promotional video pairing heroines Coco and Rozemyne, with the creators promising more crossover content to come.
The collaboration is here
The official Witch Hat Atelier anime account has released a collaboration promotional video pairing Witch Hat Atelier with Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke. The video first debuted during a joint stage panel for the two series at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles before going public online, bringing the fantasy titles together in a single crossover piece.
Two young heroines, one shared theme
At the heart of the crossover are the series' leads. Coco, the aspiring witch of Witch Hat Atelier, and Rozemyne, the book-obsessed heroine of Ascendance of a Bookworm, are shown trading their signature items, Coco's magic notebook and Rozemyne's beloved book, while their mentors Qifrey and Ferdinand watch over them. It is a fitting match. Both stories follow a determined girl chasing a passion, magic in one world and books in the other, against the limits placed around her.
A friendship between creators
The collaboration grew out of a real connection between the two authors. Witch Hat Atelier creator Kamome Shirahama and Ascendance of a Bookworm author Miya Kazuki have spoken publicly about admiring each other's work for years, and the pair published a lengthy conversation alongside the crossover in which they discussed their ongoing adaptations. According to reporting from outlets including Crunchyroll News, the two had previously teamed up on a crossover short story, making this animated meeting a continuation of an existing creative friendship. The announcement also noted that further crossover projects are planned.
