Star Detective Precure! The Movie Unveils Its Main Trailer Ahead of a September 18 Release

The main trailer for Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and a Secret Pair arrived on July 26, posted simultaneously by the film's official account and by Toei's film account. A set of new production stills followed a minute later, showing the cast at a tea table in the garden that gives the film its title.

The film opens in Japanese theaters on Friday, September 18, timed to the Silver Week holiday. Toei's post confirms that characters created specifically for the movie appear alongside the regular cast, and frames the story around a mystery the detectives refuse to give up on.

The case at the center of the story

Anime!Anime! reports that the film is built around a run of "X-mark" incidents that ruin things people care about across the city. A fairy named Rain brings the case to the Curat Detective Agency, which sends Anna Akechi and her friends to Karin's Garden, a flower-filled place where fairies live. There they meet a girl called Karin and a fairy called Alan, and the culprit behind the X-marks, a figure named Damedame, turns out to be tied to the two of them.

The same report notes that characters from the two preceding Precure series, Kimi to Idol Precure and Wonderful Precure!, turn up in the film, and that this trailer is the first time they have been seen in motion. It also flags a deliberately unexplained line delivered by Cure Arcana Shadow, roughly "you are like me," whose target the trailer never reveals.
