The official account for The Detective Is Already Dead marked the anime's fifth anniversary on July 4 with a livestream that closed on fresh Season 2 material, headlined by a second promotional video and a reaffirmed October 2026 broadcast window. The new PV carries the tagline "the past that must be told, and the hidden truth," steering the sequel toward the mystery of how the great detective's legacy lives on after her death.

The October 2026 date is not itself new. As Anime News Network reported, Season 2 was moved from an earlier July 2026 plan to October 2026, and the anniversary stream reaffirmed that window while filling in the production details fans had been waiting on. Theme songs and a familiar composer
