To You in the Beyond Reveals Main Trailer and Key Visual Ahead of October 9 Premiere

Pony Canyon has released the main trailer for To You in the Beyond, giving fans their fullest look yet at the upcoming anime film. According to the official @ponycan_anime account, the trailer is now streaming on YouTube and is set to the theme song "Olive" by Tota. The distributor framed the story with a single line, "A bond beyond time. One decision will change the future." The 60 second cut leans into an emotional, quiet register, closing on a tearful close up of its heroine rather than spectacle.

Alongside the trailer, Pony Canyon also unveiled the film's main key visual, illustrated by Hechima. It pictures the two leads on a sunlit cove at dusk: a girl in a white dress standing beside a grand piano at the water's edge, with a boy seated at the keys as the sky turns to gold. Pairing a main trailer with a main key visual is the promotional centerpiece a film usually saves for the run up to release, so the drop signals that the marketing push for the autumn opening is now underway.

What the film is about

To You in the Beyond is a mystery romance. Our catalog describes it as the story of Kazuki Tsukigase, a high school boy who carries a certain secret and enrolls at Sakijima High School on a remote island in search of a place where no one knows him. On the island there is a spot known as the Cove of Spiriting Away. One early summer day, Kazuki finds a girl lying unconscious in that cove. The girl, Nanao, is sixteen, and when she later regains consciousness in the hospital her identity remains unknown. The one clue is a word she murmurs, "1974."

That single number sits at the heart of the film's mystery, and it lines up with the trailer's promise of "a bond beyond time." The story pairs Kazuki's hidden secret with Nanao's lost identity, leaving the pair, and the audience, to work out how a girl with no past and a boy running from his own end up connected. The film is based on the work by Akiko Abe, published by Shueisha, per the copyright credit on the key visual.

Release plans

The film opens in Japanese theaters on Friday, October 9, 2026, placing it in the crowded autumn theatrical season. Pony Canyon says international release details are still to be announced, and no streaming window has been named, so audiences outside Japan will need to wait for further word on when and where the film will screen.
