My Hero Academia Marks Its 10th Anniversary With a Special Plus Ultra Video
The anime's official account released a 10th anniversary special video set to You Say Run, celebrating a decade since the series premiered in 2016.
What was announced
The official My Hero Academia anime account released a 10th anniversary special video on June 16. Branded "The Animation 10th Anniversary PLUS ULTRA MOVIE: You Can Be a Hero," the clip is set to "You Say Run," the rousing track long associated with the series' biggest moments. Despite the "movie" wording in its title, this is a celebratory anniversary video rather than a new theatrical film.
A decade of Deku
My Hero Academia first aired in April 2016, following Izuku Midoriya, a powerless boy who inherits a legendary ability and enrolls at a high school for aspiring heroes. Over the years it has grown into one of the defining shonen anime of its generation, spanning multiple television seasons and several feature films.
Where the franchise stands
The anniversary lands as the anime moves through its concluding chapters, a decade on from that first season. For longtime viewers, the special video doubles as a highlight reel of how far Midoriya and his classmates have come since 2016, and a nod to the music and imagery that defined the run.
