Daemons of the Shadow Realm Sets July 4 for Its Second Cour With a New Trailer and Key Visual
The Fullmetal Alchemist creator's supernatural action series returns July 4 with fresh opening and ending themes and a worldwide Netflix rollout.
What was announced
The official account for Daemons of the Shadow Realm has confirmed that the supernatural action series will begin its second cour on July 4, 2026, picking up with episode 13 at 11:30 p.m. on TOKYO MX and other Japanese networks. The first cour closed on a cliffhanger, and the new block continues the story of twin siblings Yuru and Asa without a reset to the episode count.
The series is adapted from the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, and that pedigree has kept the title in the conversation since the anime premiered in April.
A new trailer, key visual, and theme songs
Alongside the date, the production unveiled a new key visual and a main promotional video for the second cour. The visual centers on the pair known as Left and Right leaping into battle against a new foe, with Yuru poised behind them, bow drawn. According to Oricon, the trailer previews the escalating conflict that opens the back half of the series.
The second cour also brings a new pair of theme songs. The opening theme is "back shot" by Masanori Otoda, while the ending theme is "Kujaku" (Peacock), performed by Kei Sugawara. Both were revealed by the production ahead of the premiere.
Where to watch
Beyond its Japanese broadcast, the series streams internationally. Netflix is carrying Daemons of the Shadow Realm worldwide from July 4, with new episodes weekly on Saturdays, and the show has also been available on Crunchyroll and ABEMA. Crunchyroll's release notes confirm the simulcast timing for viewers outside Japan.
Background
Daemons of the Shadow Realm is based on Arakawa's manga, serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan since December 2021. It is her first major new serialized work to receive a television anime since Fullmetal Alchemist, and the adaptation is animated by Bones Film under director Masahiro Ando, per reporting from Oricon and Crunchyroll.
