Clevatess Season 2 Premieres July 8 on Crunchyroll
The dark fantasy from creator Yuji Iwahara returns for a second season on July 8, streaming the same day on Crunchyroll.
What was announced
Clevatess is back. Crunchyroll has confirmed that the dark fantasy returns for its second season on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with new episodes streaming on the platform. Announcing "the beginning of the next chapter," the distributor set the premiere alongside the show's Japanese broadcast, and Crunchyroll News lists the same July 8 start with a same-day simulcast for subscribers.
When and where to watch
The new season picks up almost exactly a year after the first, which began airing on July 2, 2025 and ran for twelve episodes. Crunchyroll News puts the season 2 debut at 9:00 p.m. JST on July 8, streaming the same day for international viewers. Episodes carry Japanese audio with English subtitles. The platform also released an English dub for the first season, so a dub for the continuation would follow precedent, though nothing has been confirmed on that front.
The story so far
Based on the manga by Yuji Iwahara, Clevatess follows one of the Lords of Dark Beasts whose reign shatters after he revives a hero he had personally slain and adopts an orphaned humanoid baby, the last hope for a dying world. That unlikely bond anchors the series: a fearsome Beast King learning what it means to be human through the child he is raising. According to Crunchyroll News, Season 2 finds Clevatess continuing that mission as he and his party infiltrate a private magic academy to keep shaping the future of the young prince in their care, picking up after the first season's clash between his human servant Alicia and the general Dorel.
Returning staff and cast
Season 2 is produced by studio Lay-duce with Kiyotaka Taguchi returning to direct and Keigo Koyanagi handling series composition, per Crunchyroll News. The core voice cast returns, led by as Clevatess and as Alicia. Crunchyroll News also reports several new cast additions joining for the academy arc, and lists Myth & Roid as the performers of the season's ending theme, "Awake Anew."
