The Assassins Arc itself is not new news. The adaptation was first announced on December 21, 2025. What MAPPA delivered at its anniversary event was the next layer of detail: a fresh trailer and the names behind the production.

The staff behind the Assassins Arc

Anime News Network reports that Tatsuya Yoshihara, who directed Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, returns to direct the Assassins Arc anime at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko is credited with scripts, Kensuke Ushio with music, Kazutaka Sugiyama with character design, and Kiyotaka Oshiyama with devil design.

The Assassins Arc follows Denji as his growing notoriety as a Devil Hunter makes him a target, drawing a wave of assassins after him. It is the arc that immediately follows the events animated in the Reze Arc film, which introduced Reze to the franchise's anime in September 2025.

A mobile game, and still no date

Alongside the anime update, a Chainsaw Man smartphone game was announced. MAPPA is providing the opening animation, though no further details about the developer, platforms, or launch timing were shared.

The one thing the event did not provide was a premiere window for the Assassins Arc. A release date has not been announced, and MAPPA gave no indication of when the new anime will air.

MAPPA has shepherded Chainsaw Man on screen since the 2022 television series, followed by the Reze Arc theatrical film in 2025.
