Your Letter Anime Film Sets September 25 Japan Release Through CoMix Wave Films

What CoMix Wave Films announced

CoMix Wave Films has unveiled the final poster for Your Letter, the Korean theatrical animation it is bringing to Japanese cinemas, and locked in a September 25, 2026 opening. The studio shared the news on July 16 through its official distribution account, describing the film (released in Japan under the title En no Tegami) as a co-production it helped bring to the screen. The new poster leans into the story's quiet, nature-tinged mood, picturing a sunlit forest, fireflies, and the letters that set the plot in motion.

A first for the Your Name studio

The announcement is a milestone for CoMix Wave Films, the studio behind Makoto Shinkai's Your Name and Suzume. By the studio's own account, Your Letter is the first overseas theatrical animated feature it has taken on as a distributor. CoMix Wave Films also says its staff contributed directly to the production, handling direction, background art, finishing, and photography in collaboration with the Korean animation studio STUDIO LICO.

About the film

Your Letter is a South Korean animated drama directed by Kim Yong-hwan and produced by STUDIO LICO and Studio N. It is based on the webtoon of the same name by Hyeon A Cho. The story follows So-ri, a girl who transfers to a new school after summer vacation and finds an anonymous letter tucked inside her desk drawer. Each note points the way to the next, turning the school into the setting for a treasure hunt, and along the way she befriends a classmate named Dong-soon as the mystery behind the letters slowly comes into focus. The Korean-language cast includes Lee Su-hyun, Kim Min-ju, Min Seung-woo, and Nam Doh-hyeong. Our catalog files the film under the adventure, drama, and mystery genres.

An award favorite heads to Japanese theaters

Your Letter arrived to warm reviews at home and has since drawn international attention, collecting a run of animation prizes on the festival circuit and, by multiple reports, selling to more than 160 countries. Director Kim Yong-hwan has pointed to Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai as formative influences, and in comments relayed by CoMix Wave Films he called the studio's backing of his film an honor. Earlier reporting placed the Japanese premiere at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters nationwide. With the final poster now public and a firm date on the calendar, Japanese audiences will be able to see Your Letter for themselves when it opens on September 25.
