Solo Leveling: Beyond the System Anime Film Announced at Anime Expo 2026
Crunchyroll and Aniplex revealed a new Solo Leveling theatrical film that continues the story after Season 2, with A-1 Pictures returning to animate.
A theatrical continuation of Solo Leveling
Crunchyroll used its showcase panel at Anime Expo 2026 to announce Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, an all new anime theatrical feature film that is officially in production. The reveal came Friday during the studio's panel in Los Angeles, where English voice actor Aleks Le, who plays Sung Jinwoo, introduced the project alongside a teaser and a companion concept video.
The film is billed as a direct continuation of the anime, picking up after the events of the second season, Arise from the Shadow. According to Crunchyroll's announcement, the story follows Jinwoo after his raid on the Ant King of Jeju Island, and the title Beyond the System points back to the Double Dungeon Arc, returning to the Cartenon Temple where his journey began.
Who is making it
Per Crunchyroll's press release, A-1 Pictures is returning to handle animation production after working on the first two seasons. Tao Tajima is directing the film, while Tomoko Sudo, the character designer on the television anime, is credited in the same role. The official announcement lists Aniplex, D&C Media, and Crunchyroll as co-producers, with Netmarble and Kakao Piccoma also named in the accompanying press materials.
What we know about the release
A premiere date has not been announced. Crunchyroll released a teaser and a subtitled concept video to mark the reveal, but a firm release window and staff beyond the core names were left for later. No release window was confirmed at the announcement, and fans are widely anticipating a 2027 arrival rather than anything the producers have set.
Background
Solo Leveling began as a Korean web novel by Chugong before its webtoon adaptation, illustrated by DUBU of REDICE Studio, turned it into a global hit. The anime's first season ran for 12 episodes from January 2024, followed by the 13 episode Season 2: Arise from the Shadow in January 2025, with the compilation film Solo Leveling: ReAwakening arriving in late 2024. All three are streaming on Crunchyroll, which now carries the franchise into its first theatrical feature.
