A New Dawn Anime Film Sets International Rollout With France Release on August 12

The official account for A New Dawn has revealed that the animated film is expanding internationally, beginning with screenings in Taiwan and Hong Kong and continuing into Europe. According to the film's official post, the movie opens in France on August 12, with further runs lined up in Germany, Italy, Romania and other territories. The same post unveiled a newly drawn key visual created by director Yoshitoshi Shinomiya.

The international run

The overseas rollout follows the film's domestic release. A New Dawn opened nationwide in Japan on March 6, 2026 through Asmik Ace. Multiple outlets report that the French release on August 12 is being handled by distributor ADN, and the official announcement frames Taiwan and Hong Kong as the first stops before the European dates. The post does not give firm opening dates for every listed country, describing the German, Italian and Romanian screenings as upcoming rather than scheduled, so those windows remain to be confirmed.

About the film

A New Dawn marks the feature directorial debut of Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, who also wrote the screenplay. It is a Japan and France co-production, animated by Studio Outrigger together with Asmik Ace and France's Miyu Productions, as reported by Anime News Network and the co-producers. The drama had its world premiere in the main competition of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026, where it was nominated for the Golden Bear.
