Community Guidelines

Last Updated: June 5, 2026 · Effective: June 5, 2026

Anime.com is a community for anime fans. We want everyone to feel safe talking about the shows, characters, and creators they love. These guidelines apply to every part of Anime.com — posts, reviews, comments, tier lists, grids, direct messages, profile information, and any images you upload.

Following these guidelines isn’t optional. If your content or behavior breaks them, we’ll act.

1. Our Standards

We built Anime.com because we wanted a place where anime fans could be themselves — talk about the shows they’re watching, share hot takes, post fan content, and find people who get it. To keep that working, we expect everyone to:

  • Engage in good faith. Disagreements are fine. Hot takes are fine. Targeted hostility, threats, and bad-faith pile-ons aren’t.
  • Respect other fans. The community is for everyone, including people whose opinions differ from yours.
  • Keep things legal. Don’t post content you don’t have the right to share, and don’t use Anime.com to coordinate or carry out anything illegal.
  • Use spoiler tags. Spoilers in titles or top-level posts ruin shows for other fans. Use the spoiler tag for plot details.

2. What’s Not Allowed

We remove content and may suspend or permanently ban accounts for any of the following:

Harassment and bullying

Targeted attacks, threats, sustained hostility, organized pile-ons, or repeated unwanted contact with another user.

Hate speech and discrimination

Content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other protected characteristics. Slurs targeted at any of these groups.

Sexual content and nudity

Pornographic content, sexually explicit text or imagery, sexually suggestive content involving real people, and unwanted sexual messages. Discussions of anime fanservice in a critical context are fine; depicting or sharing explicit imagery is not.

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)

Zero tolerance. Any content depicting, sexualizing, or facilitating the abuse of minors is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement. Accounts are permanently banned and may be referred for prosecution. See Section 5.

Violence and threats

Graphic depictions of real-world violence, credible threats of violence against people, glorification of attacks, and content that promotes terrorism or mass violence.

Self-harm and suicide

Content that encourages, promotes, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide. We surface support resources to users who appear to be in crisis. Talking about your own struggles or supporting others is allowed.

Illegal activity

Drug sales, weapons trafficking, human trafficking, distribution of pirated content, fraud, and other illegal acts.

Impersonation and fraud

Pretending to be another person, brand, or official Anime.com account. Scams, phishing, deceptive solicitations, and fake giveaways.

Doxxing and privacy violations

Sharing private personal information about others without consent — home addresses, phone numbers, workplace details, financial information, or identifying real-world identities of people who haven’t disclosed them.

Spam and platform manipulation

Repetitive content, mass-posting, coordinated inauthentic behavior, fake accounts, vote/follow manipulation, and engagement farming.

Intellectual property infringement

Posting content you don’t own or have rights to use. This includes sharing pirated anime episodes, unlicensed merchandise listings, and copying other creators’ work without credit.

Direct-message abuse

The rules above apply equally to direct messages. Harassment, unwanted sexual messages, spam, and scams in DMs are subject to the same enforcement.

3. How We Enforce

Filtering

All text and image submissions pass through automated content moderation before publishing. We supplement automated tools with human review.

Reporting

You can report any post, review, comment, direct message, uploaded image, or user profile by long-pressing the content and selecting Report. Reports route to our moderation team.

Blocking

You can block any user from their profile or from any DM thread. When you block someone:

  • They can’t send you direct messages
  • They can’t appear in your feeds, mentions, or comments
  • They can’t view your profile or your content

Response time

We review reports and respond within 24 hours. Severe violations (CSAM, credible threats of violence, doxxing) are prioritized and acted on immediately.

Actions we may take

Severity
Action
Severity:Minor or first-time violation
Action:Content removal and a written warning
Severity:Repeated or significant violation
Action:Temporary account suspension (1–30 days)
Severity:Severe violation
Action:Permanent account ban
Severity:CSAM, terrorism, or other illegal content
Action:Permanent ban, report to law enforcement, and preservation of relevant data per legal requirements

Repeat or coordinated violations escalate quickly. We reserve the right to skip warnings for severe violations.

4. Appeals

If you believe we took action against your content or account in error, you can appeal within 30 days of the action.

Email support@anime.com with:

  • Your username
  • The content or account affected
  • The action taken (warning, removal, suspension, ban)
  • Why you believe the action was incorrect

We respond to appeals within 5 business days. Appeal decisions are final.

5. Child Safety

Anime.com has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

This includes any content that depicts, sexualizes, or facilitates the abuse of minors — including AI-generated and stylized illustrations of minors in sexual contexts.

When we identify suspected CSAM, we:

  • Remove the content immediately
  • Permanently ban the account
  • Report the content and account to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)
  • Cooperate with law enforcement investigations
  • Preserve relevant data as required by law

If you encounter content that may be CSAM on Anime.com, report it immediately through the in-app report flow or email support@anime.com. You can also report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org.

Age requirements. Anime.com requires users to be at least 13 years old. If a user discloses that they are under 13, report it immediately to support@anime.com. Do not engage with the user about their age or publicly comment on the user’s account status.

6. Reporting Illegal Content

Beyond the in-app report flow:

  • Illegal content (other than CSAM): email legal@anime.com
  • CSAM: email support@anime.com and report to NCMEC
  • Copyright infringement (DMCA): follow the process at anime.com/legal/dmca
  • Threats of imminent harm: contact local emergency services first, then email support@anime.com
