Anime Soundtrack Review

The Samurai Seven Soundtrack. Yeah! Say that ten-times-fast, I double dog dare you. I'm still tongue-tied from the Powerpuff Girls review.

While you were busy watching cybernetic baddies get decapitated in the lavish production of Samurai Seven, you might have missed some of the wonderful music throughout the series.

Well, here's your opportunity to make up for that oversight. Seven's score is a masterpiece, blending eastern and western philosophies musically, much like Kurosawa did visually for the original, making essentially a western, but with ronin in the role of cowboys.

Seven Samurai's soundtrack was composed by Kaoru Wada of "Inuyasha" fame, with TV sized versions of the intro theme "Mangekyo" by Nanase Aikawa and outro theme "Fuhen" by Rin'. 19 total tracks to savor. Get it -- I double dog dare you.

Samurai 7 - Volume 1
Anime DVD Review

Wow! You'll be blown away. One of the most expensive (and controversial) anime TV series ever created, Samurai 7 is loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece Seven Samurai, but pushed into the future where cybernetic bandits oppress the local farmers, who are forced to hire ronin to defend their village.

No matter which side of the debate you are on regarding using Kurosawa's work as a basis for this series, there's no denying that Studio Gonzo's production value is top-notch, more lavish and elaborate than your run-of-the-mill anime. Despite twisting a classic film into a sci-fi adventure, the producers take great pains to remain faithful to the Kurosawa epic. The limited edition comes with a DVD plus 4 story books. This is MUST OWN ANIME.
