Manga Review

Released in Japan as Youkai Navi Runa, Fariy Navigator Runa is originally written as a novel series by Michiyo Ikeda, so this adaptation is the graphic novel format. The manga is collaboration between Michiyo Kikuta and Miyoko Ikeda. This is a first series available in English by the author Michiyo Ikeda; however this is not the only English available series from Michiyo Kikuta. She is the artist for another Funimation available anime title for Save Me! Lollipop. Majority of notes included in the book is from the perspective of Kikuta.

Wouldn't anyone want to know where their destiny lies? This is a question that people should occasionally ask, if they make a particularly difficult decision, but what about if this is a destiny that is thrown into your life as a form of legacy? Jump then, into a world where darkness is brewing with creatures from an alternative magical world.

Fairy Navigator RunaThe savior for this mess is Runa Rindo. From when the conflicts begin, she has a hard time believing that she has the conditions to defeat this darkness, but when she realizes her friends are in danger. Then what? Save them and take up the responsibility that is given to her of course. Life is definitely not going to be a bowl of cherries for this pint size heroine. She is going to have to face some pretty tough choices as she matures.

The first volume of this story is a basic introduction, and for readers this is an easy magical girl type series to get into reading. The art is leaning toward the cute. Even on the cover of the first volume, I am thinking, how cute and soft stuffed animal dolls Mokke and Suneri would make; it probably is a reality in Japan.

This type of story is targeted toward readers who like reading about females who mature within their environment. For other reading similarities, there is Sailor Moon, Shugo Chara and Saint Tail as possible choices.
