Devil May Cry 4
Anime Videogame Review

I'd say "based on the anime series", but the anime series is based on the game. We're already up to the 4th incarnation of this game, and amazingly, the designers and programmers at Capcom have done an outstanding job of bringing this series a lot of life.

Devil May Cry 4A lot of that "life" comes from how much of a sweat you'll be working up just trying to *live* through the game. Even with the difficultly level set at the default, the game assumes you know how to use your controller, because it's going to have you working it in a way that'll wear the colors off the buttons.

Of course, the entire Devil May Cry franchise is known for being a hard game to beat, but maybe Capcom has taken it too far this time. The number of combos required to get an adequate score on any particular level is pretty gruesome. But that's the beauty of this game — it's so difficult that you're not going to finish it right away and just say "whatever"..., it's going to have your cussing like a sailor, tossing your controller at the screen and having a tantrum... but you're going to love every minute of frustration, even as it's raising your blood pressure to new record levels.

Anime DVD Review

His name is Dante. Half demon and half human, he is charged with ridding the world of the demons that plague it — for the right price. Neck-deep in debt, he's usually out for cold, hard cash. The doors to his business, "Devil May Cry", are always open to those with significant financial resources, and occasionally to some without (Blackjack, where art thou?).

Devil May CryBased on the Capcom game series and being released in conjunction with a "Devil May Cry 4" for PS3 and Xbox360, the ADV series Devil May Cry is this year's must-see anime — not just for gamers (although they may get the most out of it, being already familiar with the characters), but anyone who enjoys a healthy dose of monsters, mayhem, guns, sexy girls, explosions, swords, slayings, hacking and slashing, and oh, more sexy girls!

Devil May CryFans can now re-live the excitement of the games with crisp, clean animation (courtesy of Studio Madhouse) that makes for one spectacular thrill-ride. And the good news for those of us familiar with the game is that we get to go deeper into the world and characters, so the game takes on new dimensions within our imaginations.

Devil May CryDante is approached by a man named Morrison to deliver a young heiress Patty to her inheritance. He thinks it's a job not worthy of his time — that is, until a group of demons intent on killing Patty crash the party. With guns drawn and sword ready by his side, Dante will have to mow down the opposition to deliver the mark and discover just who is behind the series of attacks.

It's only the beginning for this iconic character, as familiar faces and foes test their mettle against the crew of the Devil May Cry (as they struggle to pay their bills). Filled with rocking, shoot 'em up action, Devil May Cry is *the* series to watch out for in 2008.
