Anime DVD Review
"Bottle Fairy" is cute anime. Very cute anime. It's got four cute little fairy girls who live in bottles and do cute things. As cuteness goes, it's very high on the cute meter. If you like cute, you'd be hard pressed to find cuter than this anime series.
So these four little fairies wish to become human. They want to learn about the human world and its customs. They are currently living on a desktop in the home of a high school/college-age boy. They've designated him their "sensei", and have asked him to show them the ways of humans. The next-door neighbor, an eight year-old girl named Tama, pops by every now and then to add her say to the lessons. The fun comes from what the fairy girls make of what they've learned. It all gets a bit jumbled by the time they're done with it.
 The whole thing is a fun look at this modern world through the eyes of creatures not used to school opening ceremonies and senior proms. Every episode brings a different month to the calendar and a different cultural event for them to ponder.
What is very interesting about Bottle Fairy is that it's really a sneaky way to learn about Japanese Culture. If you don't know what "Golden Week" is, we suggest you pick up this series, as, ala Schoolhouse Rock, it's a fun way to learn about the history and culture of Japan while thinking you're just watching a funny cute cartoon that's very cute.... Did we mention it's cute?
